Official warns of ‘bogus’ calls where someone impersonates Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office deputy

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — Allegheny County officials are issuing a warning after learning someone is impersonating a deputy over the phone.

According to a spokesperson for the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, Judge Bruce Beemer notified police of the calls after two people made reports to his chambers.

The spokesperson said the caller identified himself as Deputy Stephon Warren and asked people to confirm their name, mobile phone number and address. He then says they’ve missed a grand jury hearing in front of Judge Beemer and tells them they must report to the courthouse immediately. He disconnected one of the calls when asked questions.

The motive behind the calls is unclear at this time, as the caller did not request financial information or an electronic transfer of funds.

Officials want the public to know that there is no Deputy Stephon Warren at the sheriff’s office and Judge Beemer is not hearing any cases involving a grand jury.
