Old International Harvester building to be converted into loft apartments

PITTSBURGH — The old International Harvester Building is getting a new name and a new lease on life.

“These are the originals from 1905,” said Principal at Q Development Rick Belloli.

Belloli with Q development gave us an inside look at how his company plans to turn their space into the Allegheny Branch House lofts. It will feature 38 loft rental apartments. The price will range from 1,000 up to 2,500 a month.

“We’ve really taken a lot of care to work with historic preservation specialists to listen and figure out what is the best use for this building today,” said Belloli.

“More people and more development moving in will be fantastic,” said Neighbor William Pierson.

Pierson and Becky Grazier live not too far away from the new development. They tell Channel 11 they’re glad to see investment in their neighborhood as long as it doesn’t push people out.

“I would hope it would be sort of a combination. You certainly want affordability for people to live in the neighborhood. so, it continues to be diverse,” said Becky Grazier.

“It’s not just about doing the development project and the financial return. We want to make sure there is a social return to what we’re doing as well,” said Belloli.

Developers tell Channel 11 that they plan to preserve the history of this building. We’re also told construction could start this spring and the final project could be completed by the end of 2023.
