ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Twin Hi-Way Drive-In on Steubenville Pike in Robinson is closing, and the property will likely become home to a Sheetz gas station and convenience store.

According to Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE, a public hearing on the project is scheduled for Monday.

Township commissioners told TribLIVE the plan could get final approval by November.

The 48-acre site sits in the middle of a heavily developed stretch of Route 60.

Opponents have started a Facebook petition to keep the theater open, but Robinson officials told TribLIVE they do not expect that to influence approval of the project.

The Twin Hi-Way reopened in 2013 after being closed for 13 years.

Allegheny County's only other drive-in is The Dependable in Coraopolis.

There are nine drive-in theaters in Western Pennsylvania.
