AVALON — One man is dead and another is in custody following an overnight shooting in Avalon, according to the Allegheny County Police Department.

At around 12:44 a.m. on January 22, county 911 was called to a shooting at an apartment in the 100 block of Prospect Street.

First responders found an adult male, later identified as 21-year-old Jorden Puskar dead at the scene.

According to the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit, Puskar was shot multiple times.

The Allegheny County Police Department announced around 9:45 a.m. the same day that an arrest was made in connection with the shooting.

Police said that 32-year-old Samuel Lee Tolfa, of Hopewell, fled from responding officers and was taken into custody after a short chase.

According to the criminal complaint, the person who called 911 identified Tolfa and said he broke into the apartment through the back door. The caller also alleged that Tolfa chased her into her bedroom and assaulted her.

Tolfa is being charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, carrying a firearm without a license and feeling to elude. He’s currently being held in Allegheny County Jail.
