WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — There is table after table of all kinds of merchandise to buy, for a donation.
All the proceeds benefit our troops and veterans.
Operation Troop Appreciation calls this “Overstock Extravaganza” — it’s a variety store of new items donated by major retailers.
Shoppers were surprised.

“It wasn’t what I expected. It wasn’t just a bunch of junk. That you would see in a church sale. This had good things that you can actually use,” Daniel Garfold said.
Monica Orluck is the CEO of Operation Troop Appreciation, an all-volunteer organization created in 2004.
It is dedicated to supporting both active and veteran members of the armed forces who serve our country.
“Well, it’s a make-us-an-offer kind of thing. Right. So we have bedding, household items, outdoor items, there’s a mix of anything you can think of,” Orluk said. “All the money raised to you today will go to find the active duty wish list or the veteran welcome home program.”
This is the second year for Overstock Extravaganza, which is being held at OTA’s Operations Center in West Mifflin.

“I think what they’re doing here is great. They’ve been doing this for a long time and really help out,” Garfold said.
“It makes me feel very good. And it’s to do something to help somebody else is a good thing,” Charlotte Arcuri said.
This is a two-day event that will be held again Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
