Storms move through part of our area Wednesday night

PITTSBURGH — UPDATE 10:45 PM: 2,735 West Penn Power customers are out of power in Fayette County. There are 309 outages reported in Greene County.


UPDATE 9:45 PM: 2,559 West Penn Power customers are out of power in Fayette County. 134 outages have been reported in Greene County, and 138 in Washington County.


UPDATE 8:05 PM: The TORNADO WARNING issued for the New Freeport area of Greene County has been CANCELED.


UPDATE 7:55 PM: The National Weather Service issued a TORNADO WARNING for the New Freeport area of Greene County.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Fayette, Greene and Washington counties until 1 a.m. on Thursday.


Overnight storms will move out before sunrise Thursday, but cool winds will have you reaching for a light jacket as you head outdoors. A few isolated showers will also be possible, but most of the day will be dry. Friday will include a few more peeks of sun, but overall clouds will stick around. .

The weekend will start with a few isolated showers Saturday, and right now, the wet weather threat appears to be mainly for the first part of the day. Outdoor events could still be damp at times though, so check the Severe Weather Team 11 forecast before finalizing plans.
