Penguins acquire defenseman Colton Poolman in trade with Buffalo Sabres

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired defenseman Colton Poolman in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres.

Poolman, 29, is signed through the 2024-25 campaign and his contract carries an average annual value of $775,000 at the NHL level. He will report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Poolman has spent his entire five-year professional career in the AHL split between Rochester, Calgary and Stockton. In 218 games, he’s recorded six goals and 34 assists.

In exchange for Poolman, the Penguins sent forward Bennett MacArthur to Buffalo.
