WILKINS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A person is in custody after a police pursuit ended in a car crash in Wilkins Township on Saturday.
According to Wilkins Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 on Facebook, the crash happened at the intersection of Brown Avenue and Roland Road.
According to police, it was just after 5 o’clock Saturday when a Churchill police officer pulled a car over during a traffic stop here in the 2-thousand block of Beulah road.
Court documents say when police ran the license plate they found out that the driver, Jaison Garland - had a suspended license which was DUI related.
Authorities say when the officer walked up to the car Garland sped off. The officer chased him as he hit speeds of over 60 miles per hour where the speed limit is 35. At one point, the officer says it became too dangerous to pursue him as he was illegally passing several other cars on the road.
Police say Garland ended up crashing at Brown Road and Roland Road and took off on foot. He was allegedly running through people’s yards.
Garland was arrested behind Mama Meatballs Pizzeria before 5:30 p.m.
