Picklesburgh 2023: Here’s how the new location will affect your daily commute

PITTSBURGH — The kickoff of Picklesburgh is this weekend. The event always draws in thousands of people.

But this year, the festival is in a new location along the Boulevard of the Allies between Stanwix and Smithfield streets.

Dill-icious days ahead: Here’s everything you need to know about Picklesburgh 2023

The road closure is now causing a traffic headache for several drivers downtown, including Nicole Laman. She said it was bumper to bumper Wednesday morning on her way to work.

“Just a mess trying to get around. It was really slow, usually takes me an hour to get here. It took me an hour and 40 minutes,” said Nicole Laman.

Channel 11 saw a lot of cars were trying to get around the closure. Some people are shocked the road is already shut down for the event.

“I was surprised they already started closing things down,” said Desmond Vaughn.

Channel 11 saw the stage and several tents being set up Wednesday for the big event. Some are happy it was moved.

“It’s not disabling the North Side this year by shutting down a bridge,” said Natalie Greiner. “The Roberto Clemente bridge already closed, having another bridge down just poses so many gridlocks.”

Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership said this is a more comfortable location for browsing and enjoying all the food, drinks, live music and new activities.

Despite the traffic, many people told us they are excited for Picklesburgh this weekend.

“I’m glad to see the festival is growing it means it’s popular and people want to come into Pittsburgh,” said Greiner.

The event starts Friday at noon.
