PITTSBURGH — Pitt has named a new dean to the School of Law.
Professor and Vice Dean Jerry Dickinson will take the position effective Jan. 15, Pitt announced on Thursday.
The Pittsburgh native has been with Pitt since 2017 and has served as the vice dean since March 2023.
“I deeply thank Mary Crossley for her exceptional service during her time as interim dean,” Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor Joseph J. McCarthy said in an announcement. Crossley served as dean of the School of Law from 2005 to 2012 and agreed to serve once again in July 2023. “Her efforts on behalf of the school have been both highly effective and excellent.”
Dickinson worked at Reed Smith LLP in Pittsburgh and founded the Housing Rights Project. The project advocates for tenants who are in eviction processes in Allegheny County.
