Pittsburgh-area's ice-sliding pig appears in new AT&T commercial

PITTSBURGH – A Pittsburgh-area pig that gained national attention after a YouTube video of him sliding on ice went viral appears in a new AT&T commercial.

The 11-second video "Phineus the ice-sliding pig" was shared on WPXI-TV Pittsburgh's Facebook page during an ice storm in January.

Phinny’s owner, Ricky Phillip Gindlesberger, said he wasn’t sure about posting it, but went ahead and shared it anyway.

Since then, versions of the original video have been viewed more than 1.8 million times. It has also aired on "Inside Edition," "America's Funniest Home Videos," and has appeared on websites across the world.

On Thursday, a post on Phinny's Facebook fan page,"Phineus the Ice Sliding Pig," announced the local celebrity's appearance in a new AT&T commercial.

Eight seconds into the spot, two children are seen viewing the now famous YouTube clip on a tablet.

"Phineus the ice sliding pig is in the new commercial for AT&T. This again is because of WPXI-TV Pittsburgh. Phinny's big start was with you guys!! Thank you and WPXI Brittny McGraw for sharing him like you did!" Gindlesberger wrote in a post on the WPXI Facebook page Thursday.

Phinny, his older brother Pippin, Gindlesberger and his fiancé Aaron live in Twilight, about 20 minutes south of Washington, Pa.
