Investigators told Channel 11 news a female officer, who was working at the bank, shot Davis, who had a gun and had ordered everyone to the ground.
The officer was working a secondary employment detail and was in full uniform at the time.
Police said Davis was shot in the left side. It was later determined that the gun he was armed with had one round in its chamber.
The officer took the man into custody, then rendered aid until paramedics arrived. The man was transported to Mercy Hospital and later died.

A police spokesperson said the officer, who was not injured, has been placed on administrative leave, per protocol.
It's undetermined if this robbery is connected with the robberies at the same location that occurred on Oct. 15 and Nov. 16.
"After the last robbery, which was approximately two weeks ago, the bank decided to have armed police officers instead of security guards," Pittsburgh Police Commander Larry Scirotto said.
Pittsburgh police are working with the district attorney's office and the FBI as the investigation continues.
