“My dad was in WWII,” said Daniel Gordon.
The young and the old showed up to Liberty Avenue to honor our armed forces.
“They mean a lot,” said 10-year-old Wiatt Walck, “after how many wars we’ve been in. they help us with fighting.”
For 30 minutes, sirens blared and bands from all over the area performed and marched through heavy rain.
“After all of these years, people are still coming together even on this dreary, rainy day,” said Keith Taylor. “They’re still coming out and supporting veterans.”
At exactly 11 a.m., Liberty Avenue fell silent.
“I don’t want them to forget what really happened because a lot of our guys are dying off,” said Curtis Wright. “It’ll be good if they can remember what happened. How they’re getting to where they are now because of the sacrifices that were made.”
This was the 103rd consecutive year for Pittsburgh’s Veterans Day Parade. All branches were represented, including the Space Force for the second time anywhere in the United States.
