PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has been named the NHL’s First Star of the week for the second time in the 2022-23 season.
Crosby also won the title following this season’s opening week.
The team went 3-1 in four games last week, during which Crosby scored four goals and seven assists for 11 points. All of those points were NHL highs, the Penguins said.
According to the Penguins, Crosby led the team to a perfect 3-0 road trip through Minnesota, Winnipeg and Chicago. Crosby scored multiple points in each game, including two 4-point outings.

The Penguins said that during the Minnesota game, Crosby scored two goals and two assists for his first multi-goal and 4-point game of the season.
Two nights later in Winnipeg, Crosby had another multi-assist game.
In Chicago, Crosby recorded another 4-point game — his second of the week — in which he scored the game-winning goal.
The Penguins said that Crosby has recorded 3 or more points in five games this season, with two being 4-point outings, which is tied with Edmonton’s Connor McDavid and Colorado’s Mikko Rantanen for the most in the NHL.
Crosby’s 164 career 3-plus-point games are the most among all active players, tying with Jari Kurri for the ninth-most in NHL history, according to the Penguins.
