BRADENTON, Fla. — Baseball season is right around the corner, and spring training is underway for the Pittsburgh Pirates in Bradenton, Florida.
The Pirates held their first full-squad workout of this year’s spring training on Monday.
The team will spend the week at Pirate City, then on Saturday, they’ll move to their spring training venue, Lecom Park, for their first Grapefruit League game on Saturday.
Manager Derek Shelton is excited to get it going as he starts his fourth season with the team.
“We’ve had a lot of people here, almost everybody here the last couple days. It’s different when you get everybody, you got pants on and everybody’s out of shorts. It just has a little bit of a different feel to it. Really was happy with the vibe today,” Shelton said.
This is the franchise’s 137th season in the national league and 142nd overall.
