PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority has issued a flush and boil water advisory for multiple neighborhoods after a water main break.

According to a release, the break happened on a section of an 8-inch water main on Lorenz Avenue at approximately 6:50 a.m. on July 20.

The water main break caused low and no water pressure in portions of Crafton Heights, Elliott, Ridgemont and Westwood.

Pressure was restored around 8:30 a.m., according to the release.

The release also said that when there’s a water pressure loss, contaminants can enter drinking water. This is why the PWSA issued a precautionary flush and boil water advisory to a limited area, approximately 600 households.

Water buffaloes will be placed at multiple locations for affected customers at the following locations:

  • Hassler Street, in the Herschel Playground
  • Hamburg Street at Springfield Street
  • Lorenz Avenue at Rue Grande Vue
  • 1717 Hethlon Street

The advisory applies to water used for consumption.
