Pittsburgh’s 107th holiday tree found; Light Up Night festivities planned

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh’s official 2022 holiday tree has been found.

The 40-foot blue spruce was donated by the Guardian Angels Parish of Natrona Heights, Springdale campus. It will be illuminated for the season Nov. 19 during Light Up Night.

This season will mark the 107th year a Christmas tree will be placed at the City-County Building, according to a news release from the mayor’s office. The public works department started the search for the tree in September.

The tree is scheduled to arrive at the City-County Building on Nov. 5. It will be adorned with lights and ornaments and serve as the city’s official tree through the New Year.

The 2021 tree, also a blue spruce, was planted in the 1990s and donated by the Fuga family from Lincoln Place.
