PLUM, Pa. — School districts across the state are dealing with bus driver shortages.
In Plum Borough, it’s no different.
The district is still trying to hire around a dozen drivers even with the school year now under way.
The district sent out an urgent notice to parents Monday saying it’s in “severe need of bus drivers.”
Administrators say they need seven more drivers to be fully staffed but would like to pad that out with another five to have spare drivers on hand to accommodate sick call-offs.
Last year Plum Borough School District faced a similar driver shortage.
In December it announced it was no longer able to guarantee bus coverage for all students.
The district says newly hired drivers will be paid $22.60 an hour.
There are also bus aide and substitute driver positions available.
