PLUM, Pa. — Plum Middle School sixth grader Frank Altieri is taking on the world, but first, he’s starting in his own neighborhood.
Altieri’s goal: to add a sidewalk to Repp Road.
“There are a lot of cars going down this road, and it would be better for the environment if you were able to walk,” said Altieri. “This is a very unsafe road. It’s not fit for people to walk on it.”
Altieri tells Channel 11, by adding a sidewalk, he along with his neighbors will be able to access nearby shops and eateries, many of which are located off Repp Road.
“We have a lot of nice places to go to around here, a sports complex, a garden center and a pizza place. I think it would overall improve everyone’s life around here.”
Altieri created an online petition where he’s hoping to generate 100 signatures for his sidewalk.
“Then after that our overall goal will be 1,000, and then we will take it to Plum city hall so they can make that happen,” said Altieri.
