NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. (AP) — Prosecutors said a homicide charge will be filed against a western Pennsylvania man accused of shaking his 2-month-old daughter.
Robert Heibert. 28, has been in custody since the infant was flown to a Pittsburgh children's hospital on Tuesday.
Melanie Alexander died Thursday and Beaver County District Attorney Anthony Berosh said he's recommended a homicide charge be added to the counts Heibert already faces.
New Brighton police said Heibert told them he discovered the girl wasn't breathing then spent at least 15 minutes looking up child CPR before dialing 911.
Investigators said Heibert later told them he shook the child on four occasions.
