Police: Hill District fight sends pregnant woman to hospital

PITTSBURGH — Officers were called Monday night to break up a large fight in the Hill District that sent a pregnant woman to the hospital, police said.

Authorities said police responded to the incident near Somers Drive in Bedford Dwellings around 11 p.m.

About 20 people were seen in the area of the fight that left two women injured, police said.

Tyrone Williams, 39, is accused of punching a woman in the face. His uncle, Ryan Akers-Williams, 25, allegedly punched a pregnant woman in the stomach.

Both men have been charged in connection with the fight.

According to police reports, the pregnant woman identified Akers-Williams as the man who punched her, sending her to the hospital with “serious stomach pain.”

But Gail Felton, president of Bedford Dwellings, said she never saw any physical contact between Tyrone Williams and Ryan Akers-Williams and any women.

“What I saw at the end of the day was two families having a disagreement,” said Felton. “It was a lot of people, so that made it look like a big brawl.”
