SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police are investigating after a student allegedly brought a semi-automatic gun onto a Shaler Area School District bus Thursday.
The school district’s administration said school resource officers were made aware of student who allegedly had a weapon.
A video showed the student with the semiautomatic weapon but the student loads the clip, cocks it back and then points it.
The district said all appropriate protocols to ensure the continued safety of everyone in the district were taken and while the investigation is ongoing, the student has been excluded from school, effective immediately, and will be subject to the full disciplinary measures in accordance with established district policy.
“The safety and well-being of our school community remain our highest priority and we are grateful for the vigilance of our students, staff, School Resources Officers and law enforcement partners in managing this incident,” a statement from the district said.
Police said the student’s parents will not be charged as they don’t believe they provided the teenager with the gun.
