STOWE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A police investigation is underway after two attorney general agents and a local police officer were shot at in Stowe Township.

According to a communications director with the attorney general’s office, Jennifer Crandall, an attorney general agent and a McKees Rocks police officer were shot at while in their unmarked law enforcement vehicle at around 2 p.m.
According to Allegheny County police, law enforcement was following a suspect vehicle when the suspects suddenly stopped the car, got out and began firing at officers.
The officers returned fire and the suspects ran from the scene. A second attorney general agent in another unmarked car who responded to the initial shooting was also shot at by the suspects as they ran, according to officials.
There was police activity at Benwood Avenue and 9th Street, and at Benwood Avenue and Dorhman Street in Stowe Township.
A Channel 11 crew at the scene could see at least 45 evidence markers on the ground.
Police found the suspected shooter’s car burned out in Mount Washington, according to officials.
No officers were hit by gunfire, Crandall said.
Sto-Rox Junior-Senior High School was put on lockdown because of the incident.
Allegheny County police are investigating.
