PITTSBURGH — A man who allegedly robbed two University of Pittsburgh students last Thursday night on Oakland Avenue near Pitt’s campus has been taken into custody.
Eric Ingram, 53, is charged with robbery, false imprisonment and unlawful restraint.
He was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after an arrest warrant was issued.
Court papers say Ingram is a resident at Renewal Center in Pittsburgh and has been charged numerous times with burglary and robbery.
He was on probation for a bank robbery conviction when he allegedly robbed the female students.
The students told police they were walking past a man on the steps, who said “Do not move. What do you have?”
They said his mouth was covered by a mask and he was wearing glasses and a beige trenchcoat, according to the complaint. The victims did not see a gun, but he was “reaching in his coat, like he had a gun on him.”
From there, the victims told police he forced them to go to an ATM and take out $200 from one of the victim’s accounts, and as they were leaving, he made them throw their cell phones in a bush. He then took off toward Bates Street, according to court documents.
Police identified Ingram using multiple surveillance videos, according to the criminal complaint.
