WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — A Monroeville police officer was shot following a chase Friday evening.

The chase began in Pitcairn before traveling onto Routes 22, 66 and 356, Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli said.
The chase ended and the officer was shot near the intersection of Route 356 and Melwood Road in Allegheny Township.
The officer is in stable condition at a Pittsburgh-area hospital. Ziccarelli said the officer is expected to be OK.
Ziccarelli said several people are being interviewed at this time. Sources tell Channel 11 that three people are in custody.
The scene is contained and there is no threat to the public, Ziccarelli said.
