Teen shot in head in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood has died

PITTSBURGH — Clayton Tierney, the 17 year old who was shot in the head Wednesday afternoon in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood, has died.

Tierney was pronounced dead at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday according to a report from the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.

Pittsburgh police and medics were called to the 1700 block of Broadway Avenue around 4:21 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

Tierney was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital emergency department in critical condition.

His death is under investigation by the Office of the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit tweeted out an alert for commuters after the shooting, saying that all Red Line cars traveling over the Blue Line were impacted by the huge police presence. Both inbound and outbound traffic were blocked at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Belasco Avenue.
