GROVE CITY, Pa. — Police were called to Grove City Medical Center late Friday night for a report of a shooting said to have occurred during an altercation between a group of four men and a security guard, according to state police.
The security guard sustained a gunshot wound, but an investigation determined that he provided false information about the circumstances of the shooting, police said.

Reports indicated that the alleged group of men were approached by the security guard when he was shot, then fled the area toward the emergency room.
However, investigators said the account of the altercation was false and that the guard, who was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
At one point during the incident, a nursing supervisor at Grove City Medical Center told Channel 11 that the hospital was on "divert status."
Police continue to investigate.
