Port Authority is now Pittsburgh Regional Transit

PITTSBURGH — The Port Authority of Allegheny County has new name: Pittsburgh Regional Transit.

The rebranding effort has been in the works for years and was put on hold because of the pandemic. But now it’s a go.

The brand identity was unveiled this morning at Gateway Station.

With ridership growing again, the Port Authority is ready to move forward with its new name — Pittsburgh Regional Transit, or PRT, and a design plan that incorporated research and input from riders to bring some uniformity to the region’s largest transit system.

“We commissioned a research partner, locally based, to conduct a multi-phase, multilayer assessment of our current brand perception and experiences of our riders,” said CEO Katharine Kelleman.

What does this mean for riders? According to PRT’s website, you will start to see new schedules, brochures, website and signage redesigned over the next year. Vehicles will also be repainted under the new brand over the next few years. PRT said the change will not disrupt services or lead to a fare increase.
