PRT hosting community meetings on phase II of of Bus Rapid Transit Project

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Regional Transit is welcoming community members to weigh in on the second phase of its University Line Bus Rapid Transit project.

A virtual meeting took place on Tuesday, and in-person meetings are scheduled to take place within the next week.

The first will take place Jan. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Duquesne University’s Power Center Ballroom, located at 1015 Forbes Avenue.

The second is scheduled for Jan. 14 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the University of Pittsburgh’s Alumni Hall, in the Connolly Ballroom at 4227 Fifth Avenue.

Channel 11 has been covering the project, which aims to connect Oakland, Uptown and downtown Pittsburgh, for several years now. Phase one, including downtown, is ongoing.

Phase two, which focuses on Fifth and Forbes avenues through Uptown and Oakland, is set to begin later this month.

Drivers should expect temporary lane impacts and permanent parking changes.
