Public asked to avoid flooded Pittsburgh roadway

PITTSBURGH — The public is asked to avoid part of a road in Pittsburgh’s North Oakland neighborhood.

The University of Pittsburgh Police Department asked people to avoid Dithridge Street between Bayard Street and 5th Avenue but did not specify why.

A Channel 11 photographer on scene saw the roadway completely covered with water. Water was also pouring out of a fire hydrant.

Pittsburgh Water is also on scene. We’ve reached out to the water company for more information about why the street flooded, but have not yet heard back.

This is a developing story that will be updated as Channel 11 learns more.
