“Only the devil can be that cold-hearted; only the devil,” Azure Mitchell, the victim's cousin, said.

Thursday marked nearly 48 hours since an unidentified gunman shot and killed 27-year-old Deona Barnett, a mother of five who was six-weeks pregnant.

“I didn't realize there was that much evil out here in this world to just take somebody’s life like that,” Mitchell said.

Pittsburgh police said they have yet to identify whoever hid in the darkness on the corner of Antrim Street and then opened fire on Barnett.

Authorities said that since she was walking alone, they believe Barnett was targeted.

“We want justice. We definitely want justice for our unborn child and for Deona. We want justice for both of them, and I don't think our family is going to take anything besides that,” Mitchell said.

While Pittsburgh homicide detectives aren’t releasing details of their progress in the case, Barnett’s family told Channel 11 News that witnesses are coming forward and they feel more than confident that police will make an arrest sooner rather than later.

"God handles everything. He handles everything. In his way - not always in the way we want to see justice served - but justice will be served, and whoever did this heinous crime, he will get his,” Mitchell said.
