PITTSBURGH — There are new questions Tuesday night about ground up tires commonly used in artificial turf.
An NBC News report is now looking into safety on playgrounds.
The same material used in turf fields is used to make rubber mulch at playgrounds across the country.
Manufacturers said while there have been numerous studies done, there is no indication that crumb rubber is making kids sick.
Doctors said because children are still developing, being exposed to carcinogens in the rubber could put them at risk.
