WASHINGTON — NBC News verified photos on Monday of Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Kathy Barnette marching to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 alongside members of the Proud Boys.
Those members of the Proud Boys were later arrested and indicted for breaking into the Capitol and attacking officers, NBC News reported, but no evidence has been found that Barnette was inside the Capitol or involved in the breach.
Barnette’s campaign provided the following statement to NBC News: “Kathy was in DC to support President Trump and demand election accountability. Any assertion that she participated in or supported the destruction of property is intentionally false. She has no connection whatsoever to the proud boys.”

NBC’s Dasha Burns interviewed Barnette this past weekend and asked her about Jan. 6.:
Burns: “You organized buses for January 6, seeing what happened in the aftermath of that. Do you regret being a part of that at all?”
Barnette: “I feel about January 6, the way the left feels about the summer of 2020 when you have Black Lives Matter and Antifa and other groups out there looting and robbing and and everyone was calling it mostly peaceful protests with buildings being burned down behind. You know, the First Amendment has five rights freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to petition your government with grievances freedom to assemble and freedom of the press and right now what we have is a government elected officials who are blowing through our constitution like a well moves through a net right now. And so we need to be very mindful what it is canceled culture is real I’m experiencing it and is not coming from the left right now is coming from those from the some of those from the right.”
