Santa helps deliver playground equipment to a Dormont park

DORMONT, Pa. — Santa was on hand to help deliver much-needed playground equipment to an Allegheny County community on Christmas Eve.

With three playgrounds in Dormont being shut down earlier in 2024 over safety issues — and all three now demolished — borough officials moved quickly to get new equipment delivered.

The new equipment will be set up at Beggs Synder Park. Borough officials are still considering options at Dormont Park and Hillsdale Park.

Santa told Channel 11 that giving kids what they want and need is what Christmas is all about.

“Considering we have three shuttered playgrounds right now, it will give kids a place to play until the rest are built,” he said.
