EDGEWOOD, Pa. — A shootout in broad daylight on Friday afternoon has employees in a local shopping center shaken.

It started at Edgewood Town Center just after 2:30 p.m. Several cars and the window of a business were shot. According to police, the shootout moved to Swissvale, where a Woodland Hills school bus was struck by a bullet.

No students were on the bus at the time. The district’s superintendent tells Channel 11 the driver was not hurt.

“It was a calm day until that happened and everyone just kind of seemed like they were shocked,” Malcolm Drain said. He works at Pet Supplies Plus. Several cars just outside the store were struck.

There was also a visible bullet hole in one of the windows at Dollar Tree. The window was double-paned and the bullet didn’t break the second.

“Whoo, I’m shook. That never happened to me before. Anybody could’ve got hurt, got killed, you know? Too much violence and stuff like that,” Shalayah Dorsey said. She was working inside The Dollar Tree when shots were fired.

“No self-control. It shows a lack of judgment, lack of character just to be able to do that in broad daylight and don’t care about anybody else’s life,” Davonn Gajewski said. He works at Dollar Tree, but was off duty when it happened.

Allegheny County Police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
