School security guard accidentally discharges gun in Indiana County elementary school, police say

GREEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Pennsylvania state police are investigating after they said an on-duty school security guard accidentally discharged his gun inside an Indiana County elementary school.

Troopers were dispatched to Purchase Line Elementary School in Green Township on Friday at 9:13 a.m.

State police said that at around 9:05 a.m., the security guard accidentally discharged one round while handling his gun, which hit a refrigerator inside the school’s faculty room.

No one was injured and there was no disruption to student activities, police said. The school day and dismissal remain unchanged.
