PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby is widely regarded as one of the best hockey players in the world.

He may also be one of the nicest and most genuine.

Crosby has reportedly been training this offseason with Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon, which makes sense since they both hail from Nova Scotia.

On Wednesday, the two took their talents off the ice and spent the day with a 7-year-old boy battling leukemia.

According to USA Today, Bryan Carroll's prognosis isn't good, and he spends most of his time in the family's backyard.

Global News did a story about how Carroll's community came together to fix up the run-down backyard.

The Global News article said:

[Bryan] can't leave home often so he spends a lot of time with his family in his yard. His father mentioned off-hand recently that the backyard needed some repairs, and that's what put the wheels in motion.

Friends started a Go Fund Me page to raise money for a backyard makeover. Four days later, dozens of volunteers had joined in the effort with materials provided by local businesses.

Volunteers and media crews were on-hand when Bryan got his first look at the new backyard.

It wasn’t until after everyone had left that Crosby and MacKinnon showed up.

From video posted on YouTube and one photo on Imgur, it looks like the gang enjoyed running around outside playing with water guns, and built Legos inside.

Typical Crosby -- no PR needed, he just wants to do a nice thing for someone in need. You go, Sid!
