Smith Township Police investigating after death of baby boy

SMITH TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Smith Township Police tell Channel 11 a baby boy, who lived on Colony Road in Smith Township Washington County, died this past Monday.

The baby was found unresponsive at his home. His death is considered a homicide.

According to a report from the Medical Examiner, something happened to the baby on Dec. 30. The next day, on New Year’s Eve, the baby was taken to Weirton Medical Center in West Virginia.

He was then flown to Children’s Hospital, where he died on Monday.

The baby boy’s name was Oliver George, and he was just six months old.

According to the medical examiner, he died of blunt force trauma to his head.

At this point, no one is charged in the baby’s death, but the Smith Township police chief says he anticipates charges to be filed soon.
