Winter Weather Advisory in place Wednesday for some local counties

PITTSBURGH — The cold blast settles in and a northwesterly wind flow Wednesday will bring on and off lake effect snow showers to the area at times.

Light snow showers will reduce visibility at times and will create slick spots on roads. Temperatures will drop to the teens tonight; wind chills will drop to the single digits as early as this evening and stick around for the Wednesday morning commute. Make sure to bundle up and stay safe in the cold.

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in place for parts of Westmoreland and Fayette counties until noon Thursday.

High temperatures will stay below freezing this week and into the weekend. The coldest start will be Friday morning with wake-up temperatures in the single digits. A storm from the south may bring the chance for snow showers into our area by late Friday night into the start of the weekend.
