Bitter cold temperatures remain Saturday night

PITTSBURGH — Light snow showers are still in the area this evening. Temperatures will be in the teens, and wind chills will be in the single digits this evening and near zero overnight. Make sure to wear extra layers and cover exposed skin to protect from frostbite. Limit time outside.

Expect a very cold start Sunday morning with some peeks of sun throughout the day before clouds increase ahead of the next system for Sunday night and Monday.

Steady snow arrives for areas south of I-70 after midnight, with snow expanding further north overnight when it will be heaviest. We’ll see another wave of snow late Monday afternoon before the storm winds down late Monday evening.

A slight shift in track can greatly change totals, but highest confidence in up to around 6″ amounts are possible from snow bands south of I-70 for portions of Greene, Fayette, and the ridges of Westmoreland county. Snowfall amounts quickly dropping off as you get closer to northern Allegheny county and then much lighter amounts north of Allegheny county for Butler, Armstrong, norther Beaver, Indiana and north. The highest amounts will fall in MD/WV and along I-68, with higher amounts in the highest elevations of Preston and Garette counites where some locations will reach over 10″ of snow.
