PITTSBURGH — Long-time Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger officially announced his retirement on Thursday morning.

After 18 seasons in Pittsburgh, his retirement has prompted a response from many prominent figures in the sports world, including the NFL themselves.
The NFL also shared what they called ‘one of the greatest plays in Super Bowl history,’ when Roethlisberger connected with Santonio Holmes for the winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLIII back in 2009.
The Steelers took to social media to thank Big Ben.
The team also put together a video, with player’s individual well wishes for Roethlisberger.
Hall of Fame speculations have already begun, and Big Ben will first be eligible in 2027.
Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher shared a statement about his time coaching Roethlisberger.
The Pittsburgh Penguins showed local support by sending their well wishes to Roethlisberger.
The Super Bowl twitter account posted some throwback photos from Ben’s two Super Bowl victories.
