Man in custody after allegedly firing shotgun following domestic dispute in Indiana County

DIXONVILLE, Pa. — A man is behind bars after police said he fired a shotgun following a domestic dispute in Indiana County Saturday.

Troopers formed a perimeter around a house in the 18000 block of Route 403 Highway North within the Village of Dixonville. The incident was called in at around 7:47 p.m.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers were told that the female involved in the incident had left the scene but the man had fired a gun and then went inside his house.

During the investigation, police learned that the man, identified as Shane T. Turenchalk, 37, had a verbal argument with the female and then fired a shot from a 16-gauge shotgun behind the house toward other residents, according to police.

The situation ended at around 9:48 p.m. when Turenchalk came out of the house holding a can of beer. He was taken into custody without incident and was found to be under the influence, police said.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

Turenchalk is charged with misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct, as well as a summary count of public drunkenness.

Turenchalk’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 16.
