PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh Steeler who understands the struggles of resettling in the United States gave back to those in need on Friday.
Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi teamed up with Hello Neighbor, an organization working with presently resettled refugee and immigrant families, to host a dinner for families that recently settled in the area. At this dinner, more than two dozen families were given food, clothing, toys, gift cards and other resources to help in their transition to Pittsburgh.
“God blessed me with this opportunity. But I think the most important thing is God blessed us for a reason, and to be able to bless others is all what I’m about,” Ogunjobi told Channel 11.
Ogunjobi, the Steelers 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee, understands what these families are going through because of his own family history. His parents immigrated from Nigeria in 1993, so he said he understands the struggles these families are going through and how important it is to be a helping hand.
