SWAT responds to Wilkins Township home after man with gun threatens officers, police say

SWAT and police were called to a house in Wilkins Township Friday morning.

The chief of the Wilkins Township Police Department said the situation started after a call reporting a theft at a convenience store. Police followed the suspect to the home on Linhard Street.

Police say they went to the door of the house and the man inside answered the door with a handgun and threatened officers before going back in.

SWAT units were called to the scene and made several attempts to get the man inside to come out. They used a P.A. system to call the man out several times but were ignored.

Flashbangs were eventually used as a method to help get the suspect out. The man inside surrendered after.

A handgun was found in the pocket of the man when he was arrested.
