SOUTH FAYETTE, Pa. — Several law enforcement agencies responded to an Allegheny County community on Monday afternoon.
An Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson says this situation started when deputies tried to service an eviction notice on the 1300 block of Oakridge Road in South Fayette.
The spokesperson says the situation “quickly deteriorated” and deputies had to take cover. South Fayette police and Allegheny County Police Department SWAT then responded to assist, shutting down Oakridge Road and putting the neighborhood on lockdown.
Channel 11 has learned that as deputies knocked on the door to service the notice, they immediately heard a singular gunshot. The sheriff’s office spokesperson says shots were never fired outside or in the direction of deputies.
The spokesperson confirms the resident took their own life.
Oakridge Road has since reopened.
