SWAT team diffuses tense situation in Allegheny County

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — A SWAT team diffused a tense situation on Saturday night in an Allegheny County.

Police said that officers in Lincoln Borough were called to a building on Finney Road after family members said they were afraid a 30-year-old man living in the lower apartment might hurt himself.

Lincoln Borough Police Chief Michael Lupinacci said that because there was someone in the apartment above, they decided to bring in the SWAT team and try to get the man to come out peacefully.

"It just so happened as SWAT was approaching the house, the individual did come out of the house, and he was taken down by the local officers that had the house surrounded and a K-9 unit," said Lupinacci.

Earlier reports that a hostage was involved turned out to be false.

Police said they are still working to find out if the man had any weapons.

No word has been given on what charges he might face.
