Teen arrested for robbing Rite Aid, punching employee

PITTSBURGH — A Rite Aid Pharmacy on Brighton Road in Pittsburgh was robbed early Tuesday morning after a teen smashed the front window of the store, police said.

Anthony Darius Rain, 19, of Brighton Heights, was arrested for the robbery near the intersection of Shadeland Avenue and Etola Street in Pittsburgh.

Officials said that after Rain entered the store, he punched the employee who was working there. The employee told police he struggled with Rain and even though he was dazed, he managed to run through the shattered glass and get away.

After the employee fled from the store, Rain remained there and caused extensive damage to the cash registers and merchandise, Toler said.

Police were given Rain’s description and direction he fled from the scene and were able to locate him.

Rain is charged with robbery, burglary, and assault. He was in the Allegheny County Jail Wednesday morning.
