PITTSBURGH — A teenager died and another was charged after a shooting on North Linden Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Point Breeze neighborhood.
A female teenager was found with a gunshot wound to the head around 8:15 p.m. Saturday and was pronounced dead inside a home there.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the teen as Aliah Johnson, 17, of Wilkinsburg.
The suspect was identified in court paperwork as Emeka Moye-King, 16, of Pittsburgh. The document states that Moye-King and his girlfriend, Johnson, were hanging out in a second floor bedroom watching TV.
Moye-King’s mother was there and told police she could hear the two laughing and joking, then she heard a loud bang. Holly King stated a few seconds later her son came running downstairs, yelling that he had just shot Johnson.
In court papers, Moye-King told police he handed Johnson his handgun to look at it, as he’s done before. He went on to say …”when he retrieved the Glock 30 from Johnson’s grasp and with his left hand, finger on the trigger, placed the firearm on the dresser….that the firearm went off ….and Johnson slumped over onto the bed.”
The complaint said she was shot in the face and died minutes later.
Moye-King is charged with criminal homicide and possession of a firearm by a minor.
