A McKeesport teen charged in the 2021 shooting of a teen girl has been taken into custody.
Anthony Gibson, 18, was charged in May 2021 with firing a gun near the Soft Serve and Dee-Lights ice cream shop on Miller Avenue in Clairton. Two bullets struck a 16-year-old girl in the back and leg, according to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office. Gibson, who was 16 at the time of the shooting, was charged as an adult with aggravated assault and firearms violations.
Bail was set at $75,000 and a bond was posted. In November, Gibson failed to appear in court and Judge Kelly Bigley issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
This week, detectives from the sheriff’s office developed information that Gibson was at a Faulkner Street home in Sheraden. They were able to apprehend Gibson later last night without incident. As they were taking Gibson into custody, detectives found a gun and, as a result, Gibson will face additional firearms violations, according to a report.
Gibson was placed in the Allegheny County Jail.
