Cold winds chills through Saturday, snow showers expected overnight

PITTSBURGH — Much colder air is in place this evening, and wind chills will be in the teens through the evening. Snow showers are expected overnight into Sunday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. tonight through noon Sunday in the ridges of Westmoreland, Fayette, and Indiana counites along with Preston and eastern Tucker and Somerset counties. Snow accumulation in these locations could be between 2″-4″ with wind gusts up to 45 m.p.h.

The rest of the viewing area could see a coating up to 2″. Watch for slick roads, snow-covered roads, icy spots, and changing visibility. Use caution, take your time and drive carefully.

A blast of colder air arrives Sunday, temperatures will fall to the teens with gusty winds dropping wind chills below zero through the day. This frigid air will stay in place for the next several days with wind chills below zero at times again Tuesday and Wednesday. The next chance for snow showers will arrive Monday night into Tuesday with some light accumulations possible.
